Our Story
At Optiva Strategy, we believe healthcare organizations deserve more than checkbox compliance. They deserve strategic partners who understand that compliance, operations, and financial sustainability are deeply interconnected — because we have lived it ourselves.
Healthcare organizations today are being asked to do more with less. Reimbursement pressures continue to grow, workforce shortages remain a challenge, regulatory requirements are becoming increasingly complex, and leaders are expected to maintain quality, compliance, and financial stability simultaneously. Today's healthcare leaders are being asked to balance compliance, operational performance, workforce challenges, patient outcomes, and financial sustainability simultaneously. We help organizations navigate that complexity with practical solutions that strengthen performance and support long-term success. For many organizations, the question is no longer simply how to remain compliant — it is how to remain sustainable.
Optiva Strategy was founded by Alejandra (“Allie”) Barrios, J.D., Founder & CEO, after years of serving in executive leadership roles within complex healthcare and federally qualified health center (FQHC) environments. Throughout her career, Allie has worked at the intersection of compliance, operations, risk management, governance, and strategic planning, helping organizations navigate some of their most challenging operational and regulatory realities.
From accreditation readiness and enterprise risk management to operational restructuring, behavioral health expansion, regulatory oversight, and organizational sustainability initiatives, Allie has helped organizations strengthen infrastructure, improve accountability, and navigate complex challenges while remaining focused on their mission and the communities they serve.
Recognizing the growing need for experienced executive leadership support, Allie founded Optiva Strategy to provide healthcare organizations with practical, implementation-focused solutions that bridge compliance, operations, and strategy. Before launching the firm, she partnered with Natacha Hernandez, a healthcare operations executive with more than 25 years of experience leading multi-site healthcare organizations, revenue cycle operations, workforce management, and strategic growth initiatives.
Together, Optiva Strategy delivers a unique combination of compliance expertise, operational leadership, risk management, and strategic problem-solving. Our team understands that sustainable healthcare organizations require more than regulatory readiness — they require operational discipline, financial awareness, workforce stability, and systems that support both organizational performance and patient outcomes.
Our services are designed to meet organizations where they are, whether they need fractional executive leadership, operational assessments, compliance and risk management support, regulatory readiness, revenue cycle optimization, credentialing support, corrective action planning, workforce strategy, or project-based consulting.
What makes our approach different is that we do not provide recommendations from the sidelines. We have worked within healthcare organizations, led teams through regulatory reviews, supported executive leadership and boards, managed organizational change, and navigated the difficult decisions required to sustain mission-driven healthcare organizations in an increasingly challenging environment.
At Optiva Strategy, we help healthcare leaders build stronger organizations, reduce risk, improve operational performance, and create sustainable pathways forward — so they can focus on what matters most: serving their patients, residents, and communities.
Because healthcare organizations deserve more than survival — they deserve sustainable strategies, stronger operations, and trusted partners who help them navigate what's next.
